Reviews: Volume 2
Do you really want change? Or are you still under the illusion that if this person changes, or that situation changes, all will become better for you? In Volume II of the Toltec Teachings, Théun Mares continues to elucidate the Warrior’s Path, and how you can learn to change the only person you can change yourself!
The first part of this book is about living the life of a warrior. Théun describes the process of transmutation, and how we can begin to learn from our present challenges. Transmutation is, quite simply, the means to gain sobriety or clarity. If we want to change, we must first recognize the habits that we have relied upon up until now. Only then can we “not-do” those habits.
The second part of the book is about transformation which involves erasing personal history. Here Théun takes us into the left side of the teachings, or the feeling aspect of the Warrior’s Path that make it a Path with a Heart. He reminds us again that we cannot look at the challenges in our lives in terms of the face value. We must learn to go beyond the face value if we truly want to change.
In both the first and the second parts of the book, Théun uses explicit examples to show us how we can apply these techniques in our daily life. These examples have been most helpful to me in seeing the effects of my behaviour and my view of the world.
Part three of the book may seem daunting at first, but if you take your time and re-read this part, it will be very rewarding. This part of the book covers one of the most fascinating aspects of the Toltec Teachings the Dreamer and the Dreamed. The cosmology involved in this part of the book is diagramed very extensively. Also included, is a comprehensive guide to Active Dreaming. There is also a full section on Dream Symbols and how to interpret Passive Dreams. If you are like me, you will truly enjoy this part of the book.

Have you experienced that excitement when you find something, and you marvel at your good fortune at having come across it? That is how I felt upon reading Théun Mares' books. I am thrilled that there is such a thing as the Warrior's Path, and grateful that Théun Mares is now revealing how one approaches it.
Volume II, like all of Théun Mares’ books, distinguishes itself from a rapidly increasing amount of literature surrounding the Warrior's Path and spirituality. One is left with the unmistakable feeling that the author knows whereof he speaks. One cannot doubt that he has an enormous wealth of experience in living the teachings, and that his writing is an inspiring expression of the impeccability of his spirit. Moreover, Théun Mares shows that hunting for the personal power we need in order to lead a joyful and meaningful life is a practical and accessible affair that occurs within our daily lives.
After reminding us of our responsibility, and the opportunity within the present challenges facing humanity, Théun Mares describes in this volume what is entailed in living the disciplined life of a warrior. Amongst many other techniques imparted in this book, he also imparts to us the techniques of erasing personal history and dreaming. And magically, throughout all of the teachings imparted, one also feels one's heart being touched.
