Reviews: Volume 4
Written in an open, warm and real manner, Volume IV of the Toltec Teachings by Théun Mares leads us into a deeper understanding of our true nature, by guiding us through what are the fundamental tools of the warrior on the Path of Freedom.
In this volume the author sheds yet more light on how we can begin to apply ourselves in a more purposeful and meaningful way towards gaining self-knowledge. Through the use of concepts such as the Four Postulates of Stalking, the Stalker's Rule and Dragon Lore, we are guided towards an ever greater appreciation of our true heritage, and what it is to stand up and take responsibility for our lives.
Wherever we find ourselves at this moment in life, we have the power within us to effect real and lasting change. All we need is the courage and willingness of heart to bring about that change. Volume IV is an essential guide for all true searchers of personal freedom.

Throughout this book Théun Mares gives the basic concepts concerning one of the four major techniques of the Toltec warriors, namely, the Art of Stalking. Although stalking and manipulation these days are synonymous words, the material in this volume reveals that, for those who walk the Path of Freedom, stalking is an act designed to bring about a win-win result for both parties concerned.
Théun’s method of expression indicates a deep knowledge and skill, for he combines both the simple and the profound in an effortless manner. One is left with the feeling that he is speaking to one personally. The timing of the book, and the examples used, resonate with the real needs today of all of humanity. As the situation in the world today clearly indicates, the crisis within society is effecting everyone and has permeated every aspect of our lives. Greed, disdain and arrogance are fashionable behaviours exhibited by every one of us. As one who has been especially guilty of this type of behaviour, I know from experience that the achievement of success and glamour does not necessarily make one feel happy and fulfilled. But even if it does, it is mostly at the expense of one’s own freedom.
Although this crisis facing all of us today has inherent within it pain and struggle because of our present perception, it is not a bad thing by any means. The priceless gift inherent within this situation today makes it clear that manipulation for self-centred gain always was, is and will be a downward spiral. On the other hand, and in line with the forces already manifested upon our planet, we are being shown how stalking one’s own perception, so as to uplift oneself, both serves and supports the purpose of evolution, not only in the individual, but also within the greater whole.
In this book Théun provides an example and a beacon for those of us who are willing to learn what it is to fight for our freedom; what it means to find value in one’s own experience; and the poignancy inherent in both joy and tears when one’s heart is singing.

This volume contains and explains how to use The Stalker’s Rule and The Four Postulates of Stalking - two powerful techniques with intensely practical applications to everyday life. Although it took some focused work, once I had some working knowledge of these techniques, my life and my perception of my life were never the same again. I made a couple of large posters of these techniques and hung them up next to my work computer.

Volume IV of the Toltec Teachings by Théun Mares has given me the practical means to face my day-to-day challenges. The book covers the Four Postulates of Stalking, the Stalker’s Rule, and the concepts related to these, such as Controlling Folly, Waking up in the Dream, and Combing the Shadows. By applying these concepts in my daily life I am able to face my challenges in a way that is not just about “getting through them,” but in a way that allows for my own growth and for uplifting those around me. The techniques serve to bring together my logical side and my feeling side in a way that enables these aspects of myself to work together. These concepts, and how they work together, are described in detail in the book, and because of this any reader willing to actively apply them will find his or her life much enriched.
As an added bonus we get an introduction to the Fourth Dimension, the World of Sorcerers, and its keys, the Twenty-one Jewels of Awareness.
This book has been invaluable to me.

There are a small number of books in my life that I find myself reading over and over again because of the value they hold for me. Volume IV of the Toltec Teachings by Théun Mares is one of them.
This book describes a technique known as the Art of Stalking, which has been evolved and tested over millennia by a great number of Toltec warriors. As I live this approach, I find that bit by bit my life is transforming. From a life which had become increasingly empty, and wherein the various goals that typically indicate a successful life (career, family, money, etc) had lost all appeal to me, I now find myself living a life that has a deeper resonance, beauty, poignancy, and mystery. In short, through living the teachings that Théun Mares so generously and carefully imparts in Volume IV, and throughout all of his books, I am learning to love the gift of life.
