Mysteries revealed? Or a masterful piece of stalking?
Volume V of the Toltec Teachings series by Théun Mares is the most esoteric of his books to date, and therefore full of some wonderfully revealing “goodies” about the workings of the nagal’s world. But be warned, this book is not for the fainthearted, and by this I don’t mean to put you off, but rather suggest (strongly) that this is a book for serious study and not just to glance through. So when the author says in the book that you ought to acquaint yourself with, firstly, his other books before reading this one; and secondly, and particularly, the cosmology section in Volume II; well let’s just say he ain’t kidding. But if you are a serious student of the Toltec Teachings, as I am, and determined to strive to LIVE the teachings and walk the Warrior’s Path, Volume V is not to be missed.
Notwithstanding the above, this book is also a delight to read. The author is obviously honing his art. And despite the in-depth subject matter this book contains, it is still written in the very down-to-earth and PERSONAL (as if speaking to you face to face) manner, which has come to typify his previous books.
The last section of the book, The Sorcerer’s Explanation, is a real treat, and had me close to tears at some points, whilst also laughing uproariously at other points. The way in which he speaks directly TO you is superb, and to my mind a piece of masterful stalking. Even the way in which he points out how he is doing it, and why, is handled so beautifully that, by the end, I really had to take my hat off to him, which, of course, is what he wants - the hat being a dreaming symbol for self-image.
I can’t wait for the next volume. But meanwhile, I have more than enough work to do working through his books all over again. The strange thing is, every time I re-read one, it’s like I have never read it in the first place. How does he do that?

We are incredibly fortunate to have Théun Mares' practical exposition of the Toltec teachings. Working with the teachings imparted in his previous books has brought about fundamental changes to my outlook and approach to life.
This book succinctly encapsulates his earlier teachings, clarifies and extends them in ways that provide profound insights into their deeper meaning and implications. The author provides numerous pointers to ways of responding to life at the level of feeling, rather than succumbing to rational assumption. The book has a poignant ending that carries a potent sting in its tail.
This is essential reading for anyone who has set their intent on finding practical ways of living the teachings.

At times disarmingly simple, and at other times complex beyond our reason, Volume V of the Toltec Teachings by Théun Mares takes us as far along the Path with a Heart as is possible to do with words, but then, as Théun points out, nothing written in this book can be taken at face value. It is up to us to live the teachings in every moment of our lives, and in this book we are given the tools to guide us with our challenges which ultimately lead us into the unknown. As with all his books, this volume can be read many times and still it can surprise us as though it was the first time we had opened it.
The scope of this book is vast, and the implications for mankind are not easily comprehended. We can only be grateful to Théun that we have this book here and now, and do our utmost to use the knowledge contained in these pages.
